Shipping Label vs. Storage Label

Now that you've packed up your whole life and you're ready to either ship it all home, store it away or do a little of both it's time for you to label your boxes! Before you get too excited and print out any of the incorrect labels, make sure you have added the correct items in your account. No matter how hard you try if you have added a storage item when you're really shipping an item you won't be able to print the correct shipping label.

 Shipping Label

-Customer ID
-Ship to address
-Unique FedEx tracking number
-Used on all boxes being shipped at time of pick-up

Storage Label
-Customer ID
-Phone number
-Item description
-Unique bar code number
-Used on all boxes being stored

Both storage and shipping labels are created though the online Collegeboxes account.

Once printed, match the label to the corresponding item, affix the label on the top-left face of the box. Make sure the suitcase label is on the suitcase, and duffel bag label on the duffel bag. In addition to the label, write your name and customer ID number with a heavy marker on all sides and the top of the box. For items other than boxes, make sure the label is secure and visible. Don't forget to make good use of the zip ties that came in your Supply Kit. Zip ties work great in attaching labels pouches to fans, suitcases, etc.  If you are shipping your boxes it is also good practice to write your shipping address on your box.  This will help FedEx identify your box should your shipping label fall off during transit.
